[Jason slightly smirks back when he clinks his glass against Eliot's. Then he sips.

Jason had changed out of his body armor into mostly civilian clothes before hitting the bar but there are very small hints to what he actual is if one knows what to look for. His well-worn brown leather biker jacket isn't completely open, like there's something tucked under or he's hiding his inside pockets. His jeans are sturdy and just the right fit, not too tight or too loose. It's just enough for him to move or even run. His combat boots are also sturdy and look like they've been put to good use. Overall his outfit prioritizes functioning for heavy physical activities over fashion.

Meanwhile, Jason own suspicions don't go beyond Eliot possibly being one of the Starfallen. An invasion of monsters and robots seems precisely the kind of chaos a newcomer would get dropped into. Then there's how he apparently missed part of it, despite how widespread it was. The older man's explanation is possible but more likely not.

If Eliot is a newcomer, it's also interesting that he's not at Diadem Hotel. The place certainly haz a better bar than the dive they're in and he would've been given a very generous debit card from the Alliance by now. Eliot's lack of trust in authority was perhaps the most truthful thing he's said so far. Jason can't blame him for immediately running after getting dropped into Central if that's the case.

He looks back at the TV as it airs clips of the Alliance members' latest heroics]

Look at that. All that glory. It looks nice. Think people like them ever remember the little guy?

[Jason's curious to see what Eliot already knows and how he responds as he talks more about authority and the guilds]
