[That answer gets a disconcerted reaction from Thad. And it's not so much the explanation that gets to him (though it's definitely still a concern, the more Bart goes into it the more terrifying that power sounds), but more the way Bart's acting.
It took till now for Thad to start seeing just how different this Bart was from the one he knew. On a rational level he knew Bart grew up from his Impulse persona, he'd watched it happen. But it was still jarring to go from interacting with Impulse to the person he'd grown into as Kid Flash.
Here was a version of Bart that was more calm, cautious with his powers, who actually thought out the possible consequences of his actions, and yet he was still being friendly tword him. Cautiously friendly maybe, but friendly all the same. Despite how dangerous that could be for him. Why? What did he have to gain from giving him the benefit of the doubt?]
Why are you bothering to answer my questions? Why just freely offer up that information? Why do you want to talk to me at all? What are you expecting to get out of this?
[He knew Bart could have a softer hand with his rogues gallery; could be quick to help with second chances and turning their lives around when he thought they sincerely wanted it. But Thad wasn't like most of the villains Bart went up against in Alabama. He'd kidnapped him, taken over his life, tried to kill him, tried to kill Max, threatened to destroy everyone and ment it. And he'd yet to give any sign that he wouldn't eventually kill him when given the chance. So why would he trust him for even a second?]
