1. The King's Shilling (One Mind, One Will) - [locked to the 1st person who takes the prompt]
[It's unfortunate that they're the first one to run into him like this. Because he is coming at this from a place of panic. All he knows is that the world fell out from under him, and he briefly passed out, then came to as he was gently caught by glowing ropes.]
[Somehow he's back in his armor. Somehow he also has his sword despite leaving it behind when he was captured by his sister. Somehow the people that were immediately around him, his friends, are gone. He's worried about all of them, of course, but he has his duty, so he worries about one of them the most.]
[That's why the sword is brandished in a way that looks well-practiced. His stance is strong, his form is nearly perfect. His expression suggest he absolutely would be willing to cut down someone if they're behind all this, have separated him from the others on purpose, and plan on malice towards the person Soren is willing to both kill and die for.]
[Unfortunately, being right there means Soren is going to assume this nearby stranger is behind this magical portal to a weird nightmare-scape full of strange buildings, metal monsters, people wearing cursed helms, and reality holes in the sky.]
Are you responsible for bringing me here? What do you want? And where are the others?!
[He's comfortable leaving Ezran alone sometimes because a guy's gotta eat and sleep and stuff, but always when he knows Ezran has other guards nearby, or people like Corvus, Callum, and Rayla. Soren knows they'd all throw themselves on a blade for him, just like he would - especially his brother Callum.]
[But if Soren got separated from the others, Ezran possibly did, too. He could possibly be in these dangerous streets with monsters, or trapped somewhere by whoever brought them here. Alone. Without Callum or Rayla or Zym. And without his crown guard.]
[He is not failing the king again.]
Where is he? Where's King Ezran?!
2. (Size-)Changing of the Guard (One Mind, One Will)
[It happens without Soren really thinking about it. It's trending towards evening. Since it's tied to the movement of the sun, his power is weaker and would've been much stronger mid-day.]
[...But it's still potent enough to let him grow 10 feet tall and start shoving aside mind controlled people like they're kids six grades behind him that he's bullying on the playground.]
I don't know what's causing this, but it's amazing!
[He is at least still focusing on doing good, even as he enthuses about these new powers, knocking people down (not too hard, just enough to stun them) and gently picking off their weird will-binding helmets with the palm of one hand, then throwing them down to stomp on them with massive boots.]
Do you know what this means? My entire life has been building up to this!
[He gets wistful, almost misty-eyed, over accomplishing a goal that's been at least 10 years in the making.]
I've finally achieved my lifelong dream: my powerful thighs being as thick as actual tree trunks.
[He realizes he's being overly focused on the deep wellspring of emotion he's feeling right now, so he apologizes. His voice is a little choked up.]
Sorry, I'm just going to need a second to stop being so emotional.
[The other guards had thought him mad! For doing leg day multiple times a week. And even though he acted confident about it, the truth was he didn't actually know all the hard work, sweat, and sacrifice would be worth it, at least not for sure. Worth it for the gains.]
3. In Shining armor (Near Diadem Hotel)
- Look, I did what I was supposed to do. I signed up with your guild of guards. So I was guarding!
[There's a disruption at the Walmart, in the electronics section. It's not on the level of "a man set fire to a bin full of pillows from The Emoji Movie while dressed in a see-through Spongebob onesie" but it was still pretty bad. This is because you tend to get in trouble when you yell at an employee that they're clearly doing dark magic, and try to pry off the front screens of all the televisions on display.]
[Soren is now handcuffed near a pile of destroyed TVs, with his hands behind his back, and seated on a few stacked boxes of products. He fortunately recognized these were other guards and surrendered without a fight, to try instead to just clear things up.]
[So now they're trying to work out what happened. One group of cops is talking to the flustered store manager and an electronics department employee who looks like this doesn't even rank on the list of the most exhausting things that ever happened to them in a Walmart.]
[Another is talking to the blonde 20-year-old who has his jaw jutted out in indignant disbelief that he's been accosted(!) by other guards and accused of a crime when he so clearly was trying to help.]
You didn't see it! There were little kids in all of them, and they were being forced to - to perform some kind of play! It was obviously some kind of dark magic, creating weird little mirror prisons. [Like one he's seen before.] I was just trying to get them out!
[It was different than, you know, his sister trying to break the greatest evil the world has ever known out of his weird mirror prison. These were just kids, they couldn't be guilty of something that deserved these nightmare prisons where they were forced to perform theatre for the edification of watching strangers.]
["You were trying to get them out...by smashing a bunch of TVs."]
I didn't smash them! That would've killed the tiny, tiny children. I was trying to pry off the front walls of their prisons to break them out, duh.
["With a sword."]
Of course it was with my sword. What else should I have used, a spoon?
[Judging from the looks on the police officers faces, the sass is not doing him any favors. But when you're the head of your country's version of the Secret Service, you tend to cop a teeny tiny attitude when some rank and file guards accuse you of petty vandalism.]
[(The nerve!)]
[He blows a lock of hair out of his eyes and frowns at the officers. The dark magic behind this - and also his pure intentions - should be so obvious.]
Seriously, what is wrong with all of you? I was just doing my job!
[Making this all worse: the outfit. Soren went to the store wearing his usual crown guard uniform and armor, and had wandered around goggling at the alien clothes, strange foods, and even stranger...blippy bloopy things and enigmatic contraptions in amazement. It had drawn a lot of attention. The police seem to be debating whether he's one of the Starfallen, or - judging from the conversation filtering out from a few of them - a completely deranged LARPER having some kind of psychotic break.]
["- the manager is saying it's not the first time they had a LARPER in here. They meet in one of the parks near here and do their weird playing pretend mumbo jumbo. Said they had to kick out some other loony for waving a sword around in store before."]
[The situation clearly needs some intervention - or at least someone telling Soren about the existence of Miranda rights.]
