[At first he just blinks at the knife Cass pulls out from her sleeve. That didn't seem like something most people would do, but then, he wasn't exactly an expert on what was normal. So he doesn't question it.
With a nod, he takes the offered knife. Lightly tests the feel of the blade on his thumb. Then takes it to his hair, cutting off chunks without much care for making it even. Just taking off whatever felt right, or whatever he could manage to cut through without cutting himself. It's not easy but he still tries to make the work as fast as he could at normal speed.
When he's finished, it's not as short as he would like it but that was probably for the best. It's bad. It feels bad. But not in the same way it did, and that was a start. Fixing it could come later.
