CR MEME & FEBRUARY EVENT PREVIEW AND PLOTTING
PLOT WORKSHOP
Anti-Meta sentiments are only heating up across Meta. In the last week, multiple protests against metahumans potentially moving to their cities have broken out across the United States. Some cities have tabled legislature that would make it illegal for metahumans to live within their borders. Excelsior is leading the charge, politicians are looking to ban any metahuman whose abilities are not technical in origin from living there.
Meanwhile, across the country, Sunset Falls is in a state of change. Mayor West finally has candidates willing to take the position of Mayor from him. This shift in the city's attention prevents anyone from paying much mind to the odd and potent energies rising across the city. Sure, there are strange occurances happening. A young woman walks by the school and immediately forgets her name, her job, and where she lives. Others report a strange feeling of being watched. Those sensitive to it may feel something otherworldly and strange hanging in the air. Bearing down on them with oppressive force.
It's worse for those who were not born in this world. Regardless of which city you live in, the change is unpleasant. Something feels smothering. Forcing you to conform and fit in in a way that has nothing to do with hiding your powers, and presenting yourself as a baseline human - and everything to do with the fact that you feel like you need to integrate into this world. Cast aside who and what you were and bury yourself in your new life here.
On February 13th, things hit a boiling point. The bubbling anxiety in both cities seem to converge at the same time. There is no flash, no sign that anything is changing. But when your eyes open the next day, they have. You have.

You are of this world. You were born here, you were raised here, and as far as you know, you'll probably die here. Whether it is as a hero or a villain, that is up to you. Are you a card carrying member of the Guardian Alliance, or do you operate in the shadows with the Society of Villainous Reformation? Or are you a vigilante - something that, unlike in the main world, has not been outlawed? In fact one of the biggest heroes in all the world is a vigilante named Starfall, formerly Starstruck. He was one of the first heroes to enroll in the government's War Hero project, which has now become a mandatory military service for all young metahumans upon reaching 18.
For there was no Godfall Incident in this version of 2023. No Godfall Protocols needed to be enacted. The metahuman population is booming and nearly everyone has powers, powerful ones. And - many of the painful things that may have happened to you in another one did not happen here. In fact, it feels like you're living your idealized life. It's happy, and stable, and you are happy and stable, even if you feel a strange knowing that this is wrong and not the life you had before.
The only concern is the Battlements of the Shining God, a cult which has been gone since the 1980s, seems to be re-emerging. The dominant religion, the Dreamers of the Willow Maiden, seem to be taking up arms and preparing for a war. Some of you may hear the Lady herself whispering to you, though you believe it cannot be her - for the lady would not tell you to reject your perfect life, would she? She would not want you to suffer.
But isn't it easier to have always been here? There’s so much pain in missing home - what’s the point when you can’t stay? Something urges you to gently give in, to accept your new reality as it takes hold. You have everything you need in this reality, don’t you? Friends, new loved ones - it’s all here.
This is an idealized version of your life. Say you were crushing on someone during the White Hearts festival - congrats, you're together! Maybe you're married, maybe some of your fellow Starfallen are even your children! The world doesn't quite know how to fit you into it, so it takes all of your hidden desires and manifests them into this temporary reality.
Those close to the borders of it will have a better chance of clinging onto their memories. Holding fast to what makes you who you were, pushing back against this perfect reality but finding yourself craving it. You need a spark to remember, to hold onto. And you will not find it by yourself.
OPTIONS: As this is an AU event, you are welcome to rewrite your character's entire history and personality to fit how you think they would have been if they were born in the world of Metaheroes - albeit a version where the Godfall Protocols were never enacted. This means that there is no limit on how much power your character could have amassed, what positions they hold, etc.
Some things to note: rather than joining a Guild upon reaching the age of maturity, many metahumans have to enroll in mandatory military service. The Guilds are the exception to this, as joining them is almost declaring amnesty and may earn the scorn of other metahumans. The guilds also hold much less power than the government does.
OUTSIDE THE BUBBLE
It becomes fairly obvious that some large reality bending event is happening. Communications go down within the affected area, leaving the guild to quickly mobilize and try to quarantine it. Leaving the affected area is near impossible.
Central City residents will be closest to the event border, with Society, Guild and Unaligned heroes using their combined efforts to keep the energy spreading outwards any further.
They need heroes to go in, though. There is no shortage of volunteers.
People with connections, to remind friends and foes that they have a life outside of of the bubble - outside of Meta. Characters who step inside to offer aid will have a short window of 48 hours before their own memories begin to warp and change. Venturing in with a companion extends the timeframe, as does convincing others that they are living a falsehood. Those that they reach may be reluctant to accept that this isn’t their life, but the more you convince, the weaker the illusion seems to get.
Act fast, heroes. The longer you spend inside and the fewer you snap out of, the stronger it gets.
COME BACK TO REALITY
The event will run from February 13th to February 20th. There is an option to extend the event out for a week if players would prefer it.
To snap your fellow metahumans out of this illusion, you will need to remind them what is most true to them. Friendship, family, greed - whatever it is. This is a CR Driven Event and curing characters will involve needing to reconnect with them and wake them up to reality. In some cases, affected Characters may be able to snap themselves out of this false reality if an event occurs that mirrors their reality.
There is plenty of room for characters to explore this what-if world and use it to deepen their investigation into their own in-game mysteries.
TL;DR
- This is an AU event. A good portion of the United States is affected by a sudden reality bending event which stretches from Washington to Massachusetts. This reality bending event that makes characters believe they were born in the Metaheroes setting.
- This new life doesn't have to be perfect, though. Your character is welcome to still have struggles! Their 'idealized' reality can be based upon what they want most. Your character also does not have to be a good guy! This is a version of them untied to their canon. All that matters is that there are some core beliefs or needs that are fulfilled in this world, that are not in their own.
- This version of the Metaheroes world did not have the Godfall Event. While the guilds were formed, they are not as all-encompassing as they are in the mainstream canon of the game. Instead, the United States government has a heavy hand in meta affairs. Metahumans are expected to serve in the military upon reaching the age of maturity for a minimum of two years.
- If you have any worldbuilding questions, or need some help deciding where your character belongs in this new world, comment here and the Mod Team will be happy to assist!
GUIDELINES
In lieu of a CR meme, Metaheroes will be holding bi-monthly plot workshops. These memes are designed to help players brainstorm, develop, and shape their character arcs and personal plots into something that engages them. (If players feel that this meme is not serving the function of a traditional CR meme and would like to see the inclusion of a more traditional CR meme in the future, please reach out to us!)
Players with player plot and character arc ideas — no matter how pie in the sky or early in development — should post top levels to this entry using the form below. These posts will include character hooks and motivations, general plot ideas, and potential roles in others' plots.
Your ideas can be as specific or as general as you want — e.g., "I want my character to start pursuing politics" or "I want to run a plot where Spider-Man takes down a serial bank robber who's funding meta-drug experiments on children." This is not the place to censor yourself! Put it all out there!
What we do want to impress is more specific posts will make plotting smoother. Try to avoid 'down for anything' posts and comments — if you do not feel you have specific ideas to throw out, we encourage you to simply tag around and collaborate with others. This meme can't succeed without both posts and replies!
In addition to player replies, the mods will have two top levels.
The first, MOD QUESTIONS, is a space for players to ask clarifying questions about things like player plot tier of certain ideas and the ability to impact aspects of the setting or world in substantial ways, or event related questions and sign-ups. We can provide quicker approvals on these memes to help get things rolling to a player plot submission.
The second, SETTING IMPACT, will have a form for players to pitch larger-scale plots (including those that they may not want to run themselves, or that they don't have a character who can spearhead). This section is for players to brainstorm and collaborate on big ways to engage and alter the setting. We encourage players to think creatively! We will also offer our two cents where possible, but if you feel something needs our attention, feel free to drop a direct link to the comment in the 'mod questions' header too.

Galatea
Preferred Communication: Here, PM,
Character Name & Journal: Galatea,
Guild Affiliation: None
Plot/CR Hooks: She has what might be considered an impulse control problem - she's very eager to throw down and will absolutely use violence to solve a problem, nor does she have much in the way of restraint. She could easily get mixed up in, well, pretty much anything. And she sure as heck won't make anti-meta sentiment better.
Character Motivations: She doesn't know it, but she desperately wants to be a Real Girl. She's got a chip on her shoulder the size of a boulder about being a clone of Supergirl, and thus not quite real. She will gravitate to anything that gives her that - fake or real - like a moth to a flame. She also wants to play the role of hero, but having been essentially a government-built weapon, has no idea how to do that outside the barest pretense.
Potential Roles: Thrilled to have her either completely immersed in the alternate reality, or on the outside looking in. She can be a solution or a problem depending on circumstance, and I'm happy to have her play both.
Plot Ideas: TBA
Roles Needed: TBA
Event Plans: TBA - but honestly everything. Just meeting people is kind of a goal right now!

Eddie + Venom
Preferred Communication: DMs or Plurk!
Character Name & Journal: Eddie Brock (
Guild Affiliation: Alliance
Plot/CR Hooks: Eddie is moving to Central City after living in Little Love with his family for months! I'd love for him to make new friends in the city. Additionally, I want him to put his journalism skills to use in the face of this Anti-Meta rhetoric by writing really deep, vulnerable pieces about a Meta of the Month[TM] to help show humans that these metas are people just like us. uwu;
Character Motivations: Keeping their family safe, doing their part to make the world a better place, doing their part to expose corruption and eat people who suck. Just normal Hero things.
Potential Roles: —
Plot Ideas: Outside of the journalism pieces, which would require some volunteers who'd be open to having Eddie talk to them, nothing much at the moment!
Roles Needed: N/A
Event Plans: Ahaha, I want Eddie to lose his gorramn mind with this one. Full villain, a complete 180.
The idea here is that, were Eddie to be born of this world and constantly surrounded by corruption, he'd get to a point where he sees that being good and spreading positivity isn't enough to make a change. Sometimes you gotta go ape shit, and commit atrocities, and stir chaos, because it's the only way to be heard. Also, rather than Eddie infecting Venom with his goodness and turning him a Good Alien, Venom would infect Eddie and turn him an Evil Human.
Still pretty loose with this, so totally open to people hopping on with ideas/interactions!

Tsubomi Hanasaki | Heartcatch Pretty Cure
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Tsubomi Hanasaki/Cure Blossom
Guild Affiliation: None ATM, but will need to make a decision VERY SOON
Plot/CR Hooks: Tsubomi is a major sweetheart who just wants to make friends with everyone while trying to make her new home safe, even if there are a lot of people around to do such a thing.
Character Motivations: If anything, she'll try to make things better in her own way. She's tried it last month, but that kinda didn't go too well, what with people thinking her some sort of freak. Oops. But, she wants to do good! It worked in her world, why not here?
Potential Roles: N/A ATM
Plot Ideas: Hit me up with anything, honestly! I want her to either be a big hero or use her plant powers to maybe start up a flower shop? She loves flowers and with spring nearing...
Roles Needed: N/A ATM
Event Plans: Oh, gosh, I need to get with Erika-mun and figure out what to do with this angle!

edalyn clawthorne 🦉 the owl house 🦉 hoot hoot
Preferred Communication: DM or @ me in the game discord
Character Name & Journal: Edalyn Clawthorne (
Guild Affiliation: Permanently unaffiliated.
Plot/CR Hooks:
▶ Moving to Sunset Falls
Eda will be moving into Sunset Falls this month! After all the excitement of January, she's now experiencing the tedium of moving into a new (to her) place. She'll be moving into a somewhat haunted house. Maybe in your character's neighbourhood? Don't you want a new neighbour? It'll be a Whole Experience.
▶ Employment
Since she's pretty committed to her refusal to join a guild, she's gotta make her own bread. She'll be looking for anything involving potions and/or magical items/artefacts.
However, if no player characters are involved in that sort of business at the moment, I'd like to create an NPC-run business for instead. And businesses always need customers!! 👀 Would anyone have a desire for simple potions or simple magical items?
Character Motivations:
Mostly, her motivations right now are centred around getting settled in Sunset Falls (SF-Town, baby!). Everything else is secondary. Or event-related.
Event Ideas:
Are you familiar with Stanford Pines? Of Gravity Falls fame? No? Well, he's a highly educated, daring, and intelligent paranormal investigator who loves studying all things weird and bizarre. A little like the Indiana Jones of cryptids. It's a whole thing.
Also Eda was briefly married to his brother. Don't worry about it!Why does this matter? Well, because an Earth AU of Eda would very plausibly be in the exact same field and that's exactly the idea I am proposing. Lilith and Eda both would have travelled down this path, really. Eda would have followed her sister to joining the Alliance, going to university, then would have trekked around the globe for their research (even if plenty were dead ends) . . . right until they had an explosive fight, Eda got injured, and she ended up right in Sunset Falls.
Officially, she's teaching as a professor. But she's still investigating the paranormal on the downlow.
I would love if anyone wanted to interconnect our AUs. Eda could use:
▶ Family
▶ Students
▶ Friends
▶ Love Interest
▶ Exes
Dylan Brock | Venom (Marvel 616)
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Dylan Brock
Guild Affiliation: n/a
Plot/CR Hooks:Dylan is
half-one-third Gooey Space Alien. Two of his bio-parents are Eddie and Venom — not this world's version, but close enough. While Dylan doesn't do the full symbiote suit (yet?) a keen eye might make the connection between Dylan and Venom's abilities. The ooze that Dylan can produce might pique the curiosity of some science-y types who want to learn more... or try to duplicate his powers?
He's also been practicing guitar behind the scenes and getting into the setting's underground music scene, and might start attending concerts. He also might start asking around to see if anyone wants to start a punk rock band.
Dylan also hangs around The Descendant in Central City a lot! And he has a place in Sunset Falls, too. I'd like to have him be in that setting more often.
Character Motivations: Mostly, Dylan wants to have a good time and be a teenager.
Dylan's got abandonment issues out the wazoo, so a lot of his motivation will be tied up in trying to get the people close to him to stay close.
Right now, he's recently discovered he's into guys as well as girls, and he has got it bad for Hunter. HE IS RESPECTFULLY GIVING HUNTER SPACE, since Hunter turned him down for a date until he could sort out some personal stuff, but the boy still lives rent-free in Dylan's head. But... he wouldn't mind flirting around a little bit to try and get his mind off the rejection, and maybe explore that part of himself a little more.
He's also got a pretty strong sense of justice. With powers, if he thinks he can step in to protect someone who can't protect themselves, he will.
Plot Ideas: Teenage shenaniganery is always fun! Dylan's got a close group of friends but he's willing to branch out.
Also if there's any villains trying to get a variety of powers from a single source, it'd be fun (for me, not him) for someone to experiment on him to try and duplicate his powerset for themselves.
I'd also like to see if maybe Dylan could get some more... less moral friends? I think people should actually pitch being a villain to him. Not sure he'd take it but I'd like the temptation to be there, lol.
Roles Needed: Evil scientist villain! Or someone evil that employs scientists, idk.
Teenage rogues to be a Bad Influence.
Event Plans: I will come back to this later, I need to coordinate with Max & Bugly (Eddie & Sleeper) but Dylan's Idealized World would be the assurance that his dads will never abandon him. If they're villains now... that complicates things, lol.

Mayuko Shiraki | Fruits Basket (CRAU)
Preferred Communication: here for event stuff, the Discord community,
Character Name & Journal: Mayuko Shiraki/
Guild Affiliation: Alliance
Plot/CR Hooks: Mayuko got nominated to be a candidate in the aforementioned Sunset Falls mayoral election. She is very UNSURE how to feel about it at this point. So in the leadup to the event she might be doing campaign things? Or hiding out at certain bars in Central trying to destress (You can’t take her Singles Awareness Day Bon Jovi karaoke away from her!!! She won’t have it!!)
She will put in hours at her day job at the Sunset Falls library so that’s an easy place to find her, as well.
Character Motivations: Mayuko is definitely getting more invested in Sunset Falls bureaucracy, BUT she wants to maintain her strong ties outside of the city just as strongly.
She’s going to get the idea to start using her clout as an Alliance member and (potential) city government official to Make Things Better. Things like verifying licenses/advanced degrees/diplomas/(the like) for ALL Starfallen when they show up, not just make it a condition of joining a guild. That way they don’t have to scrape by on the margins.
Potential Roles: Mayuko is a responsible adult and she is a sympathetic ear to the young people. She is also someone involved with keeping memories that were forgotten in canon, and a secret keeper in her previous game. Outside the event, she is not looking for romance, but new friends and allies are welcome!
Plot Ideas: none yet, we’ll see how the mayorship goes?
Event Plans: My ideas are very up in the air besides these points. Mayuko could go either way with this.
A. She’s holding out! After all, it is super important to her to HOLD ONTO HER MEMORIES when others forget. (yayyy Fruits Basket amnesia trauma) But the temptation to give in will be quite strong.
B. She’s assimilated! If military service is the norm, she did her time after high school. She's a part of the Alliance; that way, she lives in the guild housing with the ghost quartet still. Unsure if the ghosts are affected too, or just want Mayuko to be happy, so they may or may not assist PCs.
She’s a librarian with a proper degree from a university here, AND currently running for mayor. It’s STILL a process shrouded in mystery, but she has a better idea of the risks.
It also tickles me to think she would be a Sunset Falls cultist and therefore some degree of villainous. If you need someone to interfere with retrievals from SF, she and her energy tentacles would be happy to meet you!
So far, my idea for her ideal world has her being the Most Important to someone? Either an NPC or if anyone wants to toss their unlucky guy in.

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Otto Octavius
Guild Affiliation: Alliance
Plot/CR Hooks: Otto does tend to put himself on Confluence duty and try to help out new arrivals! That doesn't end with the Confluence, either; he'll often show up if someone needs assistance with something. As far as more personal hooks go, he's obviously a science sort and works in medical technology! That's his true interest - while he helps out with Confluence stuff and actual imminent disasters, he's really not into the vigilante game.
Character Motivations: Otto's made it through his first holiday season since his life fell apart, and now he's sort of emotionally recovering! He has already committed to living out the rest of his life in this world, so he's focused on building a life here, even if he knows that a lot of his close CR may return to their worlds when they finally get a chance.
Potential Roles: he will adopt literally everyone in this game one day
Event Plans: Otto is very much inside the event radius, so he's going to get fully sucked into AU Land! His native version will not be a meta at all, but rather a normal civilian scientist with a notable lack of robot tentacles! He doesn't work with the military and thus doesn't tend to interact with a lot of heroes at all, although AU Alliance members may know that he's willing to help them out with tech stuff on occasion, if they really need it. He has a particular soft spot for the younger members. They might even get invited to dinner with him and his wife! His wife is alive and well and just in the other room, don't worry about it!
The actuators do still exist; they're just in the original, ideal state as tools that Otto can use and remove at will, really only utilized for lab work. They probably don't have AI...but they may quickly become relevant if people start trying to pull him out of the AU, because he really will not want to go.

Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Sephiroth
Guild Affiliation: Unaligned
Plot/CR Hooks: Sephiroth works at the Sunset Falls Public Library and can assist any characters trying to get acclimated there or who want to study magic. He himself is still working to figure out his powers, so he can sometimes be seen doing weird shit in public. He also teaches swordplay to a couple of other Metas, though he's probably been slacking on that lately.
He's involved with MCU!Loki and is a frequent patron of the Opherium theatre in Central City.
Character Motivations: Sephiroth is using his time in this world to figure himself out. What he is, who he is, and what he wants. His autonomy is extremely important to him.
Potential Roles/Roles Needed: Sephiroth is not a hero, but can be motivated towards anti-authoritarian action. As a former child soldier himself, he's becoming increasingly disturbed by the Guilds' treatment of children and teens. He's not currently very involved in guild goings-on, but I'd be interested in getting him in touch with like-minded individuals and taking some sort of action against the guilds.
Event Plans: Sephiroth is getting fully sucked into the AU. In his ideal life, he is the Meta son of renowned biologist Lucrecia Crescent and himself has achieved a PHD in geology (NERD). He and Loki are married (and have maybe adopted a daughter?) and on the surface it's all very normal and perfect.
However, after his mandatory military service, he immediately recognized problems with the system. I'm thinking he is not exactly a known villain, but has recently murdered some officials connected to the War Hero project (people who never actually existed in reality), and so people are aware that there is a Threat. I would be very into some hero type character having to stop him from doing more of the same!

Jason Todd | DCAU
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Jason Todd (
Guild Affiliation: Unaffiliated for now but likely joining the Society soon.
Plot/CR Hooks: Jason is a man of many layers. As a civilian, Jason is the owner of Descendant Bar and Lounge. To most people, it's a speakeasy-style karaoke bar. To criminals, it's a neutral place to discuss business, conduct certain transactions, and maybe play some high-stakes pool or high-stakes card games. What Descendant actually is though, is a BatFamily front to gather intel about criminals.
As the Red Hood, Jason is a gang leader and a violent vigilante who has claimed a chunk of Central City as "his" territory. Him and several NPC metahumans are hybrid criminals/antiheroes. For example, they do protection rackets but exempt small family-owned businesses and won't ever get kids involved in anyway. Also, it's been a cat and mouse game between the D'Amico mob and Jason because Jason's got a bounty on his head for taking control of some of the crime in Central.
Another possible notable thing is that Jason is a bookworm and sometimes goes to libraries or bookstores during his free time.
Character Motivations: Jason believes that crime can only be controlled, not stopped. It's why he's a gang leader with a particular set of rules. He'll allow certain crimes like drug trafficking and racketeering but do something like harming a kid will put you on Jason's hit list.
Jason's open to potential allies on this front, though it may take time to trust them enough as he's paranoid enough to think someone might try to go undercover to take him down.
He's also on the lookout for ways to better track down and kill the Joker but again, won't trust easily.
Potential Roles: Jason is canonically an antagonist/dark antithero. Because of how violent Jason can get and how cynical he's become of the traditional superhero ways, he could very easily be someone's antagonist here as well. Jason's used to arguing/fighting heroes who have a problem with his vigilantism.
Meanwhile, Descendant is always hiring so if your character needs a job, hit me up! Also, because there are so many BatFam members listening in for criminal intel, you can opt in your character to be listened in on. Further details are in my write-up post for Descendant.
It's also possible for Jason to be someone's perfectly nice book club buddy.
Plot Ideas: I would love for Jason's moral code to continue to be tested between what he used to believe in back when he was Robin and the much darker turn he's taken now. It's fascinating to see where that moral compass's needle might spin towards.
But really, I'm not picky and open to a lot of things so if you want to play with me at all, hit me up and we'll work something out!
Roles Needed: N/A
Event Plans: For this event, I'm planning to have Jason be a full-blown mob boss. His moral code is mostly the same in that he thinks controlling crime is better than trying to stop it. Like canon Jason, this Jason was orphaned, spent some time homeless, got adopted by a millionaire, and trained to be a vigilante. But! He was never murdered by the Joker. Instead, Jason just shifted into the criminal lifestyle after seeing how ineffective just being a vigilante was. Also, he doesn't have any family problems because in the mafia, it's all about the family.

Huvrye Tirvio | Broken
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Huvrye
Guild Affiliation: Currently unaffiliated, joining the Alliance at the end of the month
Plot/CR Hooks: Huvrye has been known to fly around (and tbh to fly to other cities, just to stretch his wings) and get involved if he sees crime happening; he's less a Dedicated Vigilante and more someone who is just really tired of seeing weaker people be victimized. (He may have a little trauma there. It's fine.)
He's also still getting used to life as a civilian and human culture, so there's very much a fish out of water element still at play.
Character Motivations: He's a little directionless and still doesn't trust the guilds, which isn't great for a terminally military working breed like him. Please get him involved in something that doesn't make him suspicious or uncomfortable. (Also, he needs more close friends. Please be his friend.)
Potential Roles: This idiot was built for found family. Please let him adopt - or at least peripherally look after - your teenagers. He's also very good at turning the tide of a fight, if anyone wants to run a plot that needs a quick save/alliance. He needs friends, but he will also absolutely snark at people if the situation calls for it.
Plot Ideas: Thinking of looking into the "why is it so cold" hook, but aside from that, none, really. (Burnout is a bitch, zero stars, cannot recommend.)
Roles Needed: \O_o/
Event Plans: Huvrye is going to be a rescuer! He's starting the event in Central City, so he's not caught up in it, and he's both fast and strong enough to be able to grab characters and bodily haul them out of the affected zone if you want a quick rescue/want to handwave it.
(TBH I'm going to be out for at least half of the event period to work a convention, so it'll be a low-involvement event for me to begin with. I'm here to plot and do shourt threads/handwave if anyone would like, though!)

Doreen Green | Marvel comics
Preferred Communication: PMing, or
Character Name & Journal: Doreen Green,
Guild Affiliation: Unaligned
Plot/CR Hooks: Doreen does freelance programming and webdesign (she's making the website for The Descendant, and is totally unaware of it's, ahem, 'side business'), volunteers at the library, and most importantly, fights crime! She is... not great at hiding her secret identity, especially since she's terrible at lying (her usual method is just hiding her tail down her pants) and has remedied this during the recent Unaligned crackdown by fighting crime just absolutely covered in squirrels. Feel free to have your character recognize her in or out of costume!
Character Motivations: Short term: Doreen wants to help people, and pay rent, in that order. She'd like to find a way to hide her tail in public, so if anyone out there can hook an Unaligned girl up with an image inducer or a magic talisman or something, come at me! She also needs more friends; Doreen is getting pretty lonely doing freelance and the superhero night shift.
Potential Roles: Doreen is an optimistic ray of sunshine, and apart from talking to squirrels and punching, what she's really good at is just sitting down with people and listening to their problems, and then trying to figure out a way to solve them. If your character needs a friend, some muscle, a small army of squirrels, a sympathetic listener, someone to give them a 'come to the light side' speech, or several pep talks, she's your girl.
Event Plans: Doreen's gonna be heading inside the bubble and trying to save people! With... questionable success?

Alec Hardison | Leverage
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Alec Hardison
Guild Affiliation: none
Plot/CR Hooks: Hardison's a hacker, but he also loves nerdy shit like MMOs, TTRPGs, Sci-Fi, comics, et cetera. He also does Crime for the forces of good.
Character Motivations: In general, Hardison's out to try new experiences — new foods, new tech, new games, etc — and get a taste of all the new things life has to offer. Then he'll see how he can improve & optimuze the experience. He also has an extreme distaste for injustice, and will step in to help wherever he feels he can contribute.
Potential Roles: Back home, Hardison is part of a team that deals in taking down rich and powerful capitalists who exploit those who can't fight back. He can plan, he can grift, he can hack, he threw a punch one time, he can forge documents, he can allocate resources. Give him a cause to commit crimes for.
Plot Ideas: Honestly I'm just kind of coasting with him right now! He's quietly acquainting himself with the technology here and trying to get himself back up to snuff with his skill level back home.
Roles Needed: frens :)
Event Plans: Hardison is going to be running a multi-pronged plan to get as many people out of the affected areas as possible:
Hardison is going to use these ads to reach out and put together a team to try and directly extract certain people from the bubble. He 100% has his sights set on getting his Eliot back, but he's aiming to have everyone pool their resources to rescue the loved ones of everyone on the team. Once that's taken care of, he'll expand the team's focus on getting as many others out as possible.
LET'S GO STEAL REALITY.
If you want to be on the extraction team, comment here and tell me what your character can contribute as far as powers & resources go, and we can start brainstorming strategies!

Darth Nox | Star Wars: The Old Republic
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Darth Nox |
Guild Affiliation:
BelligerentlyUnalignedPlot/CR Hooks: What kinds of things does your character get up to that might throw them in the path of someone else's plot, or that you would like other players to engage with?
Character Motivations: Nox is driven equally by a desire for stability and a never-ending quest for knowledge of all kinds, so at any given time he's just as likely to be getting up to some vigilante nonsense and taking matters into his own hands as he is exploring his connection to the Force in the woods outside of Sunset Falls
or studying and/or experimenting on various monsters there.Potential Roles: Back home Nox [reluctantly] commands one of the largest military powers in the galaxy, and prior to that he sat on the Dark Council as head of the Sphere of Ancient Knowledge, which means if you want anyone to help you delve into dangerous secrets or manage a logistical nightmare you could do a whole lot worse than bringing him on to assist with those sorts of things.
The fact that his skillset primarily focuses around infiltration and assassination also means he's extremely well suited to covert and/or clandestine activities that may or may not be easily justifiable--either legally or morally. But he will need a suitable reason to get involved if it's going to involve anything illegal--not because he's a boy scout, but because pissing off the authorities/government/guilds and ending up on the wrong end of a criminal investigation is a headache he's not going to risk just because someone asks nicely.
Plot Ideas: Nothing at the moment, though he has a few minor projects he's pursuing on the side. The main one is to quietly secure funding/support to build a separate communications network in secret, one that no government(s) or guilds have any way of monitoring or controlling. Especially since he'd like to have a backup network in place for when the anti-Meta / anti-Starfallen sentiment gets too out of hand.
Roles Needed: None at the moment, though I wouldn't turn away anyone interested in it either (and neither would he).
Event Plans: For the most part Nox will be sitting it out, though there's always a possibility he'd assist with a rescue mission or two. It just might take some convincing as to why he should bother.
A much easier feat would be convincing him to ferry people in and out of the affected regions on their own missions. He does have his own personal
warshipstarship, after all. And not only does it have room for plenty of passengers, but it's also capable of transporting small vehicles at the same time (think motorcyles, since the ship's cargo hold was built to be able to accommodate speeder bikes, not automobiles).David Alleyne | Marvel 616
Preferred Communication: DM,
Character Name & Journal: David Alleyne AKA Prodigy,
Guild Affiliation: Alliance
Plot/CR Hooks: David spends a lot of time in Excelsior out of identity trying to help organizations that support Meta rights in Excelsior. As Prodigy he does evening patrols every few nights to deal with criminals. He works very hard to keep his two lives very separate, so it could be amusing to put him in a situation where someone has to save him. Mostly he comes to meet new people through meeting them first online, then hanging out in person. He doesn't leave Excelsior as much because of his work and research though. He spends some of his free time doing tech development, so he might be seen around Excelsior with small interesting things, like a little robotic dog about the size of a furby that he uses as a minor security device.
Among the Meta Community as Prodigy, he is vocal about unfair treatment of Metas, and is trying to quietly help set up ways for Metas to get out of areas where city and state governments are discriminating against them, especially as he feels the Alliance is doing an underwhelming job of supporting the community.
Character Motivations: David's major motivation at this point is Meta Rights and Safety. Given he lives in Excelsior and is from a world where Metas have been treated like this before, he's working hard to try and make sure people are secure. Setting up escape plans for even Metas he doesnt' know is high up on his list of priorities, even if they are with the Society or are vigilantes. He's trying to do it quietly, but to help people.
David's also pretty much motivated by emotional bonds to people he grows close to. HE wants to protect and care for people even outside of meta circles, helping them build better lives and protect them from destructive life choices. Mostly he's a mom friend who wants to work with his friends and their needs to help them build satisfying lives where they are happy.
Potential Roles: David's identity as Prodigy would be known among the Alliance as highly competent with a variety of technology, a talented fighter in both offensive and defensive roles, and suspicions that he's a doctor because he shows high competence with battlefield/combat medic skills and talks like a emergency surgeon plenty. So if people associated with the Alliance have things they are doing that might benefit from these skills, he might get recommended. He's also prone to offering himself up in matters that require detective work. so he's useful there. He's not much of a leader sort without being forced into it though.
He's also really easy to get drawn into things even if you don't know him directly because he has constant searches running for uses of his name, so even a general message using the Prodigy name in social media will reach his eyes. If you want him involved, you can DM his account and he will reach out to inboxes as needed.
Plot Ideas: In the long run, I want to have David help people, perhaps strangers and especially Vigilantes and Society members, escape and set up their lives in other cities if Excelsior really does get serious dick mode.
Roles Needed: If this eventually happens, he'd need people to help get out, people to provide support in forms of escape (magic or tech transport), and possibly even helping set up new identities if things get blown.
The other plot I have with David is I want to do something where he works with magic users to try and regain some lost memories of his, only to have some horrible magical backfire going along with it, possibly including summoning something that needs fought, or perhaps a 'spliting a character into two forms', which could be interesting to do in the future.
Event Plans: David is ABSOLUTELY going full in on this AUification. He's living in Excelsior and in his mind, he was born and raised in Chicago, joined the military at 18, and then when he got older, he decided to join the guilds instead and moved to Washington. He's based in Excelsior and serves as high end tech support for groups that are active in the field, and can serve as a combat medic. He doesn't really use his offensive powers as much.
His friends will know him as someone who is happily married
to a woman named Danielle Moonstar, yep, married to a fake version of his high school advisor back home, and isolates himself a lot with people who are based on people he went to Xavier's School (yes where Mutants go to school) back on his own Earth. He's very sheltered with that bubble of support, friends who are either not powered (if they died back home), or who are powered and happily living lives tied to the military or Society. That said, he's very much quieter, reserved, and traditionally presenting as a straight man and tech-head than he is for real. He's going to need work to shake from the ideal life that he's in, and his CR will be needed for that, so that's a good thing to have people he's already familiar with deal with.
For people he doesn't know/have established CR with, he's happy to have been a former military pal, or a guild contact/support staff for a character. Assume the hell out of that CR, let him help you when you're in the field. Let him try and talk you back OUT of the attempts your CR are using to get you out of this lie if you want that tug of war!

Mark Bryant | The Bright Sessions
Preferred Communication: DM,
Character Name & Journal: Mark Bryant AKA Echo
Guild Affiliation:Alliance
Plot/CR Hooks: Mark's recently joined into the Alliance, so a lot of his plothooks relate to finding himself comfortable and useful there. He's actually a power mimic who is basically useless on his own, but useful around others (he has a power opt-in. So in general a great way to meet him if your character isn't a magic user is with Mark accidentally copying abilities around other Metas. He's also... Well, he's been mugged a stupid amount of times for someone living in Central, it's hilarious. It's my own running gag.
When it comes to guild related stuff, Alliance members might request backup and thus have Echo suggested to them, so that's an easy way to get him involved in other plots.
Character Motivations: Mark just wants to live his best life, not be experimented on, and feel like he has friends here. Oh, and avoid traumatic memories. He's not that complex on his wants right now. He could use someone to flirt awkwardly with. Multiple people (someone will date him some day but he's not trying TOO hard because he gets he's awkward for metas to be around, and he doesn't know that he could be with someone he can't be honest with).
Also he wants to take a road trip.
Potential Roles: Mark is a great way to have redundant powers in events. Does your character have this heroic thing they need to do but they're worried they don't have enough fire power alone? Bring Echo. Want to help figure out what powers your character has gained that they didn't know before? Mark's great for that, because he sometimes uses them accidentally. Trying to learn your limits and how to control things? Mark is uniquely trained from his history in learning to do this. Just want a guy to listen and tell you that things aren't as bad as they could be? Mark.
Warning: Mark gets VERY ATTACHED to people he's been in stressful/traumatic situations with. If you're in the field with him, he's going to bond some.
Plot Ideas: Not for him, other than maybe one day having his powers overload. (Dude could absolutely end up as a second Starstruck incident, which could be interesting one day)
Roles Needed: No ideas yet.
Event Plans: Mark's a resident of Central City, so he won't be in the bubble itself. That said, since he's with the Alliance, he's going to try and find a way to help. He doesn't have as many friends that don't live in Central so he probably won't go in without motivation.
I don't have as many ideas for him, so if someone wants a companion to head in to save people with them, Mark might be useful. But if people have ideas about how his power copying might help, I'd love to go with that!

Balthier | Final Fantasy XII
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Balthier
Guild Affiliation: Society
Plot/CR Hooks: Balthier buys and sells magical and alien artifacts. This has gotten him into trouble before and will again, especially because he is actively investigating the murder of his former boss. He is also in a romantic relationship with an Alliance member, and is actively digging into the hijacking of last year's Starfall event.
Character Motivations: Balthier has had a lot of loss in his life, and as weird as this place is, he has a really wonderful partner and people he cares about. He will protect those things at nearly any cost.
He also is a snoop, though, and he does have a need for stimulation. His job keeps him mostly entertained but he can't leave a mystery untouched, and if he senses someone abusing power, he has a hard time walking away from trying to unseat them.
Potential Roles: Balthier is absolutely going to assert himself as your tough love cheerleader, especially if you're a kid. If you like to bicker or banter, he's your dude. Questionable purchases dealer. Will absolutely help give you a clothing makeover or furniture makeover. Loves to host parties. Pretends to not care and want a quiet life but will go get in the middle of things if he thinks people need help. He has an extremely just heart, and the only reason he isn't a hero is his own emotional wounds.
Plot Ideas: I want Balthier to end up in some sort of leadership role at some point, especially in an insurrection or protecting Metas somehow. He'll be extremely resistant to it and afraid of becoming his (power abusing) father, but also great at it. I'm waiting to see where plot goes to seed this, especially since he already has two juicy plot things to be working on.
Also anyone wanting in on the Starstruck investigation is welcome when that goes up
Roles Needed: People to support him or push him to lead, people to be under him, people to oppose him.
Event Plans: Balthier is going to be out on work when the AU hits and it's going TO SUCK. Everyone he loves is getting AU'd so he will definitely be rescuing (and putting that very strong will to the test). I'd like him to actually get exasperated and angry this event, and also grapple some with whether it's his place to make decisions for others or take away their supposed happiness for his own. He's also potentially interested in snooping about what this alternate Starfall business is and will be connecting it to the weirdness last year. Lastly, the longer he's trying to rescue, his own AU will creep in, including that his very loving parents live at his house. At a low point he may consider giving in, and may start considering the life where he is a graduate student and professional performer. Also down for new CR if you have ideas for them during this event.
