About seven years ago, there was a lab explosion in Europe that infected everything on Earth with inactive nanobots. If the nanites activate, the living host will mutate into...anything. Could be barely any mutation, could be like your wings, could turn a person into a brainless, homicidal monster.
I've spent most of the last five years working for the largest nanite research organization to try and cure people who've mutated and prevent future mutations. Unfortunately, there've been enough incidents that I needed to be trained in combat.
