EVENT WORKSHOP & PLOTTING MEME
It's like a bomb goes off. The day is normal until it's not. Until it never will be again.
This is not a confluence. A confluence is an event, a phenomenon like the rain with mostly predictable patterns. It affects one area and one area alone, its effects isolated.
This is chaos.
Beginning on the morning of January 17th, reports flood in from the world over. The news is wild with reports of bizarre happenings. No two events are the same.The wildlife appears to have gone mad in a small city in Maine, driven to attack the people who live there with an unnatural fury. A massive Labyrinth has appeared where the New York subway system once was, with monsters now lurking in its depths. The deserts of Nevada are ravaged by sentient sand golems, moving slowly and purposefully towards the sea - tearing apart anything in their wake.
There are other things going awry. Smaller and easier to handle. A neon sign in Las Vegas comes to life, still rooted to the spot and suddenly questioning its purpose.
The only unifying feature is that all of these events are occurring where the meteors fell. And if they're not bad enough, there's still the issue of the missing individuals who have been teleported out into space.
They, too, are not exempt from this strangeness. The stars that fell? They fell everywhere. If you would like to encounter one of these star fragments here, please comment to our Questions thread. We would need a headcount on how many of you want to participate in something like that! We are open to posting a small log for this on the TDM so any test-driving friends can join in on the fun before apps open. Alternatively, if it's preferred, we can do a mini-event log for those who are displaced in space and those going to rescue them.

One for player questions and requests for assistance in generating ideas for this event.
One to request team assignments for your characters. Given how dire the situation is, the Alliance and Society are taking anyone with the ability to help. They can be regular citizens with metahuman abilities (and they'll work to make an exception to the law, this time) or aligned characters. Team assignments are based on best matches, and not what guild a character is in. We'll be announcing these on the day the event post goes live to allow for ample time for assignments.
And a final one for suggestions for upcoming events and/or pitches for your own player-run event. On our non-mod plot months, we would like to open things up for players to run their own impactful plots that can help shape the world. If you have an idea of an event you would like to run this would be the space to share it. This upcoming March we have reserved specifically for a large player event, so we'd like to see what players would like to do!
We can work with you to make it something viable and/or provide consequences if you just want to poke things and see what happens.

GUIDELINES
➢ Welcome to the New Year event!
➢ YOU'RE A SUPERSTARGiven how popular the TDM prompts seem to be, we wanted to make sure we incorporate that into what's currently happening in-game. Please remember that characters who were kidnapped onto the island can be ported out at anytime. The information below only applies for those brought into space and the heroes who want to save them. While the RINGMASTER has been trying to make hunting down the signal difficult, it appears that the chaos going on in the world has also caused his signal blockers to break down. With these no longer functioning, anyone with knowledge on how to track down radio signals who has a big enough map will be able to track them down to Moria 285, which appears to be in the Barnard galaxy. Now, getting there is still up to you! Space is accessible, but the Alliance's ship doesn't have Hyperdrive capabilities yet. They're working on it, but they may need some help. ➢ STARS FALLThe chaos on Earth is significantly less straight forward. Numerous areas are falling into disarray and are crying out for their heroes to please help them. Characters who want to help will be assigned a team - OOCly, we'll be using sign-ups to match characters into teams of two or three. If your character is not someone who would have offered a hand to the Emergency Response Team, you can assume that one of the guilds' telepaths added their names. Teams will be given suitable gear where available to help them handle the disaster they're assigned to. Teams are optional for players, but they aren't optional for characters. If you don't want to play with this part of the event, feel free to play it as your character was somehow missed when they ran through their rosters. We won't be assigning them out unless you've responded to this post for team sign-ups. If your character is off world, never fear: what is happening here is the new normal. Missions can now now include trips to areas being warped by these fallen star shards, and players will be dispatched to try to counteract the threats and collect the fallen star fragments.

Also, I may have missed it somewhere but does being publicly involved in these missions have any impact on like... how well known a character would be in the world? (reputation, social media impact, idk haha)

They will also have an impact on how well known the heroes (or villains) are in the world and how they are perceived! This is why metahumans are strongly encouraged to keep separate identities as it can pose a threat to their existence. They may find themselves being reached out to by brands for brand deals, acting roles, etc. They may also just gather a very dedicated fanbase online. Fancams are very common!

Although I've been considering having Diana go to space to help those teleported away, she's in the end more likely to let heroes like Kyle take that on, while focusing on the chaos caused by the falling meteors. With the lasso, she'll hope to calm the beasts in Maine, either with a team or on her own.
She's also going to be working on her Alliance-assigned mission regarding the superhero androids, and I'd like to pick up the thread of missing persons and the D'Amico family as well.
