PLOT WORKSHOP
GUIDELINES
In lieu of a CR meme, Meta Heroes will be holding bi-monthly plot workshops. These memes are designed to help players brainstorm, develop, and shape their character arcs and personal plots into something that engages them. (If players feel that this meme is not serving the function of a traditional CR meme and would like to see the inclusion of a more traditional CR meme in the future, please reach out to us!)
Players with player plot and character arc ideas — no matter how pie in the sky or early in development — should post top levels to this entry using the form below. These posts will include character hooks and motivations, general plot ideas, and potential roles in others' plots.
Your ideas can be as specific or as general as you want — e.g., "I want my character to start pursuing politics" or "I want to run a plot where Spider-Man takes down a serial bank robber who's funding meta-drug experiments on children." This is not the place to censor yourself! Put it all out there!
What we do want to impress is more specific posts will make plotting smoother. Try to avoid 'down for anything' posts and comments — if you do not feel you have specific ideas to throw out, we encourage you to simply tag around and collaborate with others. This meme can't succeed without both posts and replies!
In addition to player replies, the mods will have two top levels.
The first, MOD QUESTIONS, is a space for players to ask clarifying questions about things like player plot tier of certain ideas and the ability to impact aspects of the setting or world in substantial ways, or event related questions and sign-ups. We can provide quicker approvals on these memes to help get things rolling to a player plot submission.
The second, SETTING IMPACT, is a space for players to pitch larger-scale plots (including those that they may not want to run themselves, or that they don't have a character who can spearhead). This section is for players to brainstorm and collaborate on big ways to engage and alter the setting. We encourage players to think creatively! We will also offer our two cents where possible, but if you feel something needs our attention, feel free to drop a direct link to the comment in the 'mod questions' header too.

EVENT PREVIEW
To facilitate your plotting for the coming month, here's a quick preview of the April event! The Alliance Expo will take place in Central City. Your opt-out option is to not attend the Expo.
The Alliance Expo is an annual event held by the Guardian Alliance in Central City. More than simply celebrating superheroism, it celebrates metahuman ability and ingenuity and is open to everyone, regardless of affilation. This is where new members of the Guardian Alliance and The Society may have their first true public debut. Likewise, Unaffiliated metas are encouraged to subtly mingle with each other.
As this is open to the non-meta public, there's a fairly sizable vendors hall. Player characters can find knock-off merchandise of themselves being sold. Along with other gadgets and trinkets that make heroism worth it.
There is also an annual tradition in which the members of the guild participate in a loosely scripted wrestling match in which the newest members of both organizations can show off their powers and get to know their potential opponents. Players are free to come up with their own scripts - from the extremely over the top, to the grim, dark and scary. It’s all in good fun and not a requirement, and is meant to show that even divided there is unity between the metahuman community.
The Society be rolling out new branding - they’re dropping of Villainous Reformation from their name.
This year's event is centered around the history of the Godfall Event, the nearest the world ever got to an apocalypse, albeit this is a heavily sanitized and commercialized version. This event occurred on April 3rd, 1985. Players can get a glimpse into the event that made this world and founded these guild systems. There is a VR simulation where anyone can step into the shoes of the hundreds of metahumans present that day... just don't look up how many of them are still around.
The event will culminate in a VR simulation being hijacked by extremists. Any characters within the VR room will find the simulation losing its fun edge and becomes a true recreation of that day. The world is about to end and it's up to you to stop it at all costs. Player characters may find themselves being influenced by the AI of the role they're inhabiting. The feelings of these AI recreations will layer over the character's own emotions and may feel sudden bonds with other player characters who are inhabiting the role of someone their avatar knows - friends, family, lovers, nemeses. Others may find themselves being at the epicenter of the blast, taking the role of Starstruck himself - suddenly against their friends and family and unable to stop.
Players are completely free to make up their own heroes for this event. If you would like something mod generated, please comment here.
Players may also sign up for the chance to take on the role of any of the existing guild leaders - Frances Startling, Atomight, and Mechanima - and get a glimpse into what they were doing that day and how it shaped their worldview.

X-23 | X-men: Evolution
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: X-23 |
Guild Affiliation: Unaffiliated
Plot/CR Hooks: X-23 has been outside of a lot of the shit going on because she is unaffiliated and living like a feral child in the woods outside Central City. But since this is happening IN Central City, she will be curious enough to check it out and seek what's going on.
Character Motivations: X-23's ultimate goal always been to live free and find a place she belongs and be able to live a normal life. Of course currently she's too paranoid to believe this place could be it, but I'd love for someone to turn that belief on its head. Short term goals has been to stabilize her woodland abode as she makes herself a secret burrow (also known as a homemade fallout shelter).
Potential Roles: X-23's role in canon was to be a child equivalent for Wolverine because he was too grown up to play with the kids, but also she disrupts his outlook on how the kids are treated and remembers to let them be kids. Because he saw what happens when you go too far in the other direction. In game, she can definitely be a disruptor and interloper who shows up and causes problems, because she has a habit of thinking she's right. She might plan things out and have a backup plan, but she will Always Choose Violence over subtlety if she has an option. She could also play the role of the feral gremlin butting heads with people who probably know a bit more than what is going on than she does. Or if you want to have your character try to tame a teen wolverine into a friend-shaped thing, go for it.
Plot Ideas: So overarching plot is I want X-23 to get into trouble or put on someone's radar in a way to force her out of the forest and to have to live within civilization. I want her to be put into the position of having to go to school, or do an apprenticeship, or just have someone working with her to not be so...against everything about this place.
For the event, I intend to have her visit the Expo and since she's not affiliated she can't take part in the tournament, but she will be checking out the VR and watching the tourney. And of course then she'll be trapped in it when it's highjacked and I'm trying to think of a fun way for her to meet people that way.
Roles Needed: I need someone willing to get into a fight with her, someone willing to try and befriend her, and maybe some adults to step in and push her to be less antisocial. Also someone she could maybe be protective of, because she does have that kneejerk reaction of wanting to protect people even while she's insulting them.
