Guidelines
In lieu of a CR meme, Meta Heroes will be holding bi-monthly plot workshops. These memes are designed to help players brainstorm, develop, and shape their character arcs and personal plots into something that engages them. (If players feel that this meme is not serving the function of a traditional CR meme and would like to see the inclusion of a more traditional CR meme in the future, please reach out to us!)
Players with player plot and character arc ideas — no matter how pie in the sky or early in development — should post top levels to this entry using the form below. These posts will include character hooks and motivations, general plot ideas, and potential roles in others' plots.
Your ideas can be as specific or as general as you want — e.g., "I want my character to start pursuing politics" or "I want to run a plot where Spider-Man takes down a serial bank robber who's funding meta-drug experiments on children." This is not the place to censor yourself! Put it all out there!
What we do want to impress is more specific posts will make plotting smoother. Try to avoid 'down for anything' posts and comments — if you do not feel you have specific ideas to throw out, we encourage you to simply tag around and collaborate with others. Event Information
To facilitate your plotting for the coming month, here's a quick preview of the February event, which will be Valentine's themed! Love Potion #9 will take place during a love-themed festival in Sunset Falls while the characters are touring their new housing. Your opt-out option is to not be in Sunset Falls at that time.
The main thrust of the event is a love spell that will push characters into rom-com trope scenarios like Meet Cutes, as well as prompting confessions of real (and manufactured) feelings. Not just romantic love confessions, but also the compulsion to just tell people how you really feel — family, friendship. Get sappy!
The event will also include options for bizarre effects as a result of some of the festival food. Effects include exceptional boldness, emoji eyes, and fireworks when touching.

Character Name & Journal: Eddie Myers / Teflon
Guild Affiliation: Still on the fence--he could be talked into either guild with the right motivation, but he is currently leaning towards not being allied with either.
Plot/CR Hooks: Eddie is a big, dumb cyborg golden retriever raised by the "eat the rich" kind of supervillains. Despite this, he decided to go into superheroics when he grew up (though is still down with eating the rich).
Eddie is game for almost any adventure anyone wants to drag him on. Dude is an A+ follower, 10/10 would follow again. He's also a bit gullible, so as long as you're nice to him he will believe the best in you or whatever nefarious motives you have planned if any characters want to amuse themselves that way.
As he's used to being on a team back home, he's still looking for people to fill that void, especially if someone wants to tell him what to do in a fight, that would be great.
Growing up with supervillain relatives, Eddie has an eclectic variety of tastes--he's a fantastic painter, swordsman and marksman. Loki might be in the process of convincing him to take up fine art forgeries, we will see how that goes.
He is really open to anything anyone would want to throw at him.
Character Motivations: He's still determining if he should join a guild or not, and is listening to as many people's opinions on the matter as he can find. He is still on the fence, though his gut tells him not to.
He's also currently on the hunt for a job that is okay with giant cyborgs working for them and a place he can hang his hat at night. Maybe with a roommate?
Finally, he really wants some friends and/or teammates that he can gel with. He enjoyed teaming up with people during the last confluence, but he's hoping he can find a group more permanent. Anyone who can look at him as a person and not a museum exhibit or circus sideshow is a huge plus.
Potential Roles: As mentioned above, Eddie is a follower above all. He knows he doesn't have the brains for strategizing, but is big and heavy and can punch really good. Anyone who can utilize his skills while keeping their heroics down at the street level, Eddie will follow to the ends of the earth.
Also, he's just a really nice guy. He will talk to literally anyone, and people feel just as gravitated towards him to unload their problems and thoughts onto him. He wants to help people however he can. Sometimes he gives bad advice. Sometimes it's really good. It's a chance people are willing to take.
Also also, as he came to his abilities from a traumatic event, he had to really learn how to control his abilities to not accidentally hurt someone. He might make a good mentor to anyone looking to get that sort of level of control--mostly those with super strength, but he can definitely try to help anyone!
Also also also, his morals are a bit grey from the aforementioned supervillain raising, so he's not above getting himself into a bit of mischief. The hard line is hurting anyone. He'll give pickpocketing tips if the person promises to only go after a certain type of mark, can forge documents like a pro, etc.
Plot Ideas: Nothing really concrete just yet--as mentioned before, he is currently in the process of being convinced by Loki that he should take up fine art forging again for a big payday. Loki wants the money, Eddie wants to help local community centers with said money.
Roles Needed: Anyone with morally dubious backgrounds who want to support, or heroic characters who want to convince him this is a terrible idea would be equally welcome!

Also would be down to have Balthier offer to be roommates because he is just so magnanimous (he doesn't realize he's fucking lonely and Eddie is nice). Balthier is also very down to just strike up friendship/teammate because Eddie seems down to earth and not jumpy at pirate-y things.

Jean's begrudgingly (even if it looks professionally/sweetly to those watching) accepting she's going to be stuck here a bit longer. She's looking to square away this whole living place, job, guild thing. To want to figure them out and the balance of them, even if she's not content with it all.

HOUSE/CITY HUNTING: Allison will be figuring out what all to do with this whole house things. She's not inclined toward joining a guild simply because that gives you a house/a job/food that won't be given otherwise. She's not a fan of blackmailed membership, especially after the weeks of being barraged by Guild Salesmen.
While Allison is not inclined to live in a hotel forever, she may drag it out. She's now four houses down since this whole mad spiral of apocalypses, and multiple earth's started. She's feeling worn out on their
SETTLING IN: Allison is not. Someone help this child. She's not bitter about being in this world. Rather settling into the shoes of her comic counterpart, haunted by the life she can't have, but almost half a decade away from it now. She needs to figure out things. People. Whether she wants to get a job or not, whether that should be acting or not.
She's in a "this is the third time & is it even worth it to retrace those steps at all at this point" place for everything right now, and it's not going well. By which, I mean, she's mostly ignoring it.

Guild Affiliation: Looks like he'll be signing up with the Alliance. We'll see how long that lasts.
Plot/CR Hooks: Matt's a government supersolider with virtually no life experience outside of the program he was raised in. He does not know how to people. He's basically been crafted into a psychopath, and this is going to be the first time he will face consequences for things like, oh, exploding people for annoying him. His social ineptitude will most likely result in his blundering into situations he has no idea how to handle, so if you're a kind soul you can help him out. He has no idea what to do with people being nice to him besides assume it's a trick. He's emotionally constipated.
Other government experiments will be the type he most relates to, or other telepaths. You can trick him into doing a lot of things just by making him angry or implying he sucks at something.
Character Motivations: Matthew has no idea what he wants. It's been a complete non-issue his entire life. He's also never had any friends - even his own sister hates his guts. So he'll be subconsciously looking for someone to give him a purpose, and muddling along trying to figure out how real life works.
Potential Roles: He's a killing machine with a lot of experience in covert Intelligence operations, so even though he's a colossal dick he's really useful if you put a leash on him. A former team leader, he does follow orders really well if he believes you're in charge, and gives orders really well if not. (He's more likely to respect female authority figures than male.)
He has experience training new metahumans, although he's a little more Gny. Sgt. Hartman than Charles Xavier.
Plot Ideas: I very, very much want to shove Matt on the reality show Meta Mingle. He's been spotted doing Good Guy Stuff(tm) and he's got the look so the idea that someone recruits his dumb ass for reality TV is too tempting. He is perfect material for the beloved villain you have on every reality show ever. He's the New York of Flava of Love, the Josh Hibbard of Ink Master, the Phi Phi O'Hara of Drag Race... you get the idea.
He'd be a good foil for FANTASTIC due to being every bit as much of a dick as he is, but being honest about it.
Roles Needed: I would love to have someone else roped into this Big Brother style nightmare, or to watch, be horrified, and advise him.

Guild Affiliation: unaffiliated for now. He'll eventually join the Guardian Alliance but he's a little bit like "idkkkkk" about it, he has some baggage about the Avengers thing, about striking out on his own, and also Spider-Man said trans rights. so that's my ooc plan for him but idk that it will happen THIS month since I want to play around with figuring it out.
Plot/CR Hooks: Peter's new power (thanks confluence!) is technomancy, which allows him to talk to/communicate with machines! He has no idea how to use this, or even what it really is yet! MOSTLY what this means is I want SHENANIGANSSSSS about it. I know on the plot post I mentioned him accidentally waking up an AI type thing that pretends to be good but WHOOPS is actually a bad AI and I'm not sure where that's going (I am a mean person playing such a good person, who lets me do things?). Otherwise I don't really have Plans(tm) so much? Winter is really hard on my brain so I'm just sort of barely existing. I want to write things with all of you, just slam in here and we'll roll the dice.
Character Motivations: Peter has A LOT OF UNRESOLVED TRAUMA, WOW, and I won't go off about NWH spoilers but trust me it's A Lot! MCU doesn't deal with anyone's trauma very well anyway lmao! It's just sort of sitting there! (Peter has a habit of stream of consciousness monologuing at people so some of it sort of oozes out but there's a lot he doesn't say directly, it's just all bottled up, it's a thing). It's not exactly a motivation, but it's just baked into him from the past several years of just too much happening. He really desperately wants to Do The Right Thing but there is a part of him that is sometimes like yeah well fuck that too so he can be pushed in the wrong direction just a little before he swings around to the right thing and I'm awful so I like to push those buttons and see about the morally gray bits! Great responsibility who? Not me.
Also very genuinely Peter needs friends who are not in mortal danger just by knowing that he's Spider-Man. One of the things that massively frustrates me about MCU canon is how fucking bananas it is that EVERY OTHER HERO outside of, like, Daredevil???? has a known identity and Peter doesn't, and it's this big Thing because that's intrinsic to Spider-Man, and he's just sort of left alone and hanging and I have a lot of words to say about this! Putting him in a game like this, he doesn't need the secrecy in the same way. He's keeping it, and oocly I want to keep that at least on some level, but I don't want him to be isolated emo boy forever so getting past some of that is important, I just haven't figured out how to do it yet, so I'm throwing that out there.
Potential Roles: Peter is ultimately not a leader type and doesn't really want to be. He is NOT good at following directions. He will go along with other people's plans (and willingly, and happily to a point), but he will run off and do his own thing in order to keep other people from getting hurt or putting them in danger. This often backfires or messes up! That's a line I'm totally willing to play with or explore. (Later on I think he could be a really good leader but he is not in a mental place to lead a team or anything right now)
Even without technomancy, he's a science whiz, great with math and tech things, so if you need help with that, he will absolutely be ya boy to lend a hand. Building things? He can help with that. Weird science formulas? Hell yeah. You going to space? ...okay maybe less excited on that but you know, mmmmaybe? :D?
He's a Hero Type(tm) but he's trying to figure out what that means and what he wants/needs it to mean. Removed from his home context, from the neighbourhood he's used to, it throws him off, so right now he's kind of searching for a project, a purpose, something to work towards.
Plot Ideas: Listen I am here to do absolutely dumb shit, have Peter fall in love with someone whether it works out or not, absolutely fuck up his day by getting him involved with villain types and letting that ruin his life (this is just how his canon goes, I didn't start this, Marvel did it first), and just kind of muck about. I'm not very good at loooooong term plans in a specific sense, only in a general sense so I have vague ideas but nothing concrete? I'm a mess orz
I want to have Peter rebuild something closer to the high-tech suits we see in the MCU films before NWH, like Tony Stark's Spidey suits, just because A, nostalgia (he hasn't gotten over Tony's mentorship and his death yet, soz) and B, it's just more fun for me to write all the neat things those suits do, especially in a setting like this. BUT he hasn't given himself permission to spend that credit card money, so someone helping him get over his poor kid guilt about that could be useful? Idk spitballing on that.
Roles Needed: Peter does really well with mentor types (good OR bad) and could really use a reason to eventually join the Guardian Alliance other than The Plot Says So, so right now I'm really looking for that sort of reason that isn't just Other Peter Parker Would Do It, you know what I mean? Originally I was like "oh yes of course he'll do that" but because of where he is in his canon and in his head, mmmmm it doesn't make sense to go there. Thirteen's (1) Bat Man
Preferred Communication:
Character Name & Journal: Bruce Wayne
Guild Affiliation: Unaffiliated
Plot/CR Hooks: Right now, Bruce is settling in for the long haul. Most of February, he'll be settling into his shitty little apartment/workplace and starting his "business" as a private investigator. Anyone else unaffiliated might have a better chance at cr with him, though you will likely run into him throughout Central City during most of February.
Character Motivations: Bruce wants to go home, and usually that involves solving whatever problem is going on in this planet, namely the Confluences. He naturally doesn't trust a government funded superhero group, so he's going to keep his distance until he learns more about them. Maybe they really have the world's (and their) best interests at heart, but they'll have to prove that to him first.
Potential Roles: I kinda want to go into a noir-ish, poor-ish, detective Bruce a little bit, and maybe sort of like a Robin Hood around the city as Batman sort of starts appearing. More like back to his roots-- think Daredevil. He has his suit, but he doesn't have his money anymore, so I think it would be fun to explore how the Batman mythos evolves here under these circumstances. He's a leader, but a very strict one, and even if you're not looking for one, he usually has no problem telling you off for doing something wrong anyway.
Plot Ideas: I'm down for anything. Big stuff that is out of his league with none of his tech, or street level stuff that involves the birth of the Batman mythos in Central City. Or even small slice of life stuff as he tries to live on his own (which he has been doing in the comics, btw, but he was still a millionaire... rip...).
Roles Needed: In the beginning Bruce might need a lot of people to approach him, which I fear usually seems like I'm just waiting for starters instead of offering, but he's usually very standoffish in the beginning as he tries to gather clues and situate himself unless he's sticking his nose in other people's business, so I usually need someone who's also willing to stick their nose into his. I'm high is any of this making sense.
edit: AS FAR AS LOVE POTION #9 GOES, lmk if you wanna do anything goofy. he's in a complicated relationship forever, but since he's doing the noir/grumpy asshole with a moral barometer that leans towards heroic, maybe you want to play some dumb tropes? THE DESTRUCTIVE ROMANCE. a torrid affair that only lasts for as long as the event, fitting of a dark story like his. Not into it? Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!

Rufus Shinra | Final Fantasy VII

Guild Affiliation: Guardian Alliance
Plot/CR Hooks: Right now Rufus is laying low and digging for more information on the guilds or other metahumans. He also is trying to find help in managing his new power of generating electricity without blowing up something.
Character Motivations: This isn't his planet but he still feels like he needs to do something to make things better however he can. Also, learn to live 'normally'. He's lived his entire life under supervision of one kind or another so it's liberating to be free.
Potential Roles: Rufus is extremely manipulative but he's progressed from doing it for murderous and bad reasons to shifting to doing the right thing while being a difficult asshole. He doesn't have the extreme wealth he did back home but he's pretty skilled with technology, is a damn good shot, and has a talent for jumping off of buildings and surviving.

Right now, Kamala's main goal is to get settled and deal with her anxiety of being away from home. Also establish herself so she doesn't lose focus on who she is. She also wants to create a friends circle. Possible dnd games or battlecraft guilds pending. She also would arrange a movie night.
She also wants to do a little detective work. Get to know the locals personally, understand their needs and desires. She's small town and wants to remain that way. So she'll probably do some minor snooping and day to day hero stuff.
Character Motivations: The only thing Kamala really wants is to go home but she would never do that at the expense of other people. And people here need help. So she'll do what she can but also keep her eyes and ears open for any potential mysteries that need solving. So she's snooping, bonding and learning.
Potential Roles: Right now, she's more of a big hearted girl, trying to do her best and figure out who she is as a person. How to be the best version of yourself. She can function as a decent conscience (she's not particularly preachy) and an understanding voice. She can be a leader though it's a role she takes on with big reluctance, though I want to work on that more so she gets more confidence. Kamala is very wholesome.
Roles Needed:
- Friends her age or close! Those are the kind of people she vibes best with.
- Mentors! She has a few, but she's never gotten the chance to get close to them and lean on them. It'd be nice for her to shelve a little independence and reach out to them.
- Nerds, geeks, fans, please apply so Kamala can talk about her interests.
- I'm down for silly romance and a very slow burn. Kamala has complicated issues with romance but I would love to tackle them if anyone is interested.

Bugly's Impulsive Idiot

Plot/CR Hooks: Bart is very easily enabled into doing new things, although he does have a pretty good sense of right and wrong. He's used to being part of a team, and will be looking for people to hang out with and also respond to trouble with. He's more of a sidekick and support person than a heavy-hitter, although he's more than capable of facing down the average criminal.
In more casual stuff, he's rarely without a feline sidekick, the kitten Kat-El he adopted in his time in Mask or Menace. The kitten has his own tragic backstory and I hope someday to find a good excuse and power-set to turn him into a mystical companion beastie for Bart to take up one of his slots since I have no idea what other powers Bart should get.
Character Motivations: Bart's not the kind of person to really be alone much, so he's always looking to hang out and help out. He's always been on a team, part of a larger community, and really, he doesn't know what to do as a lone human being. He's just bad at being a person without other people around. He's also trying to find a way to get himself out of the required schooling and just try adulting, and getting back into a life as a streaming personality doing speed-runs of videogames and also being a semi-public personality as a teen hero, hanging with others, whether masked or openly and chilling with the fans.
He has no clue what he should be doing or what goals to pursue beyond that, and would love to find direction, but he's used to relying on those around him to help point the way.
Potential Roles: Bart is the consummate sidekick or support character, as well as the lovable goofball, he works hard to be seen as an ineffectual until the time comes to actually do things. But he's also very reliable and can be the friend-in-need or the rescuer, or even the lifeline.
Plot Ideas: I'm really bad at coming up with plots, although I would love to do more gatherings for gaming, pizza, or other things like that to just have social times.
Roles Needed: Again, mun is bad at this kind of thing.
Event Thoughts: Bart's really not the kind to realize his feelings very easily, and even when he is aware, he tends not to act for concern of being rebuffed or unwelcome. So he usually has to be hit over the head with a clue-by-four to even notice someone's interested in him, and never really is the one to make the first move. However, if he knows he's welcome, then all bets are off with this impulsive idiot. When he cares, he's going to go all-out, even if it means running all the way around the world to grab that one little thing that will cheer the object of his affections up.

City Exploration
Sooner or later David's going to need to move out of the Diadem and he knows it. As part of this he is going to want to check out the cities available to them, as well as try and scope out the local businesses, resources, and potential employment. This is likely going to involve him quietly 'reconnoitering' computer systems for surveillance levels in areas.
Roles Needed:
-Friends from home or those with previous CR: these character would join him in either exploring where they might want to go, or Excelsior where he'll be going.
-People who know about his technopathy or computer skills: to serve as a look out and support while he does the slightly shady task of trying to figure out what sorts of electronic surveillance cities have.
-Other technopaths or tech specialists: to potentially catch David in his evaluating local surveillance in public spaces and either help him or try and stop him.
-Well Meaning Heroes or Nefarious Shady Folks: To maybe catch David when he's looking into tech stuff and either [Heroes] try and stop him, [Shady] try and get info from him possibly by blackmail or manipulative methods, or [Either] ask him to share the information or explain his paranoia.
Summoning A Goddess
So, David is working with Loki for the purpose of gaining back precious memories from the Greek Fate Clotho. As part of this he's been tasked with trying to achieve a few bits of material for Loki. First of these is to gather as much detail he can about his and other people's encounters with the goddess. In addition, he's supposed to try and find someone to help serve as a magical battery more or less, someone who can lend more power to Loki to give the process Loki is arranging more Oomph. While much of this will be arranged on Loki's side in an eventual player plot, in the mean time David's trying to live up to his end of the deal.
Roles Needed:
-Characters with MoM CRAU who experienced giving things up to Clotho: He'd be looking for the details of their encounters and what they lost.
-Magical characters or people with power Amplification abilities: David would like to find people who are magic to try and talk them into helping him and Loki in this task. They have no obligation to do so at this or any future point. But I don't want him approaching magic users about this without OOC permission first.
-People with Telepathy/Memory Access Powers: David's trying to come up with the most detailed description of the encounters that day that he can. This could be aided through telepaths helping him dive back into the memory, or people who have other memory/history viewing powers to help him tease out details. Part of this can include missing the exact moments and thus seeing a memory David has of a potential future his own mind dreamed up when he became a less than scrupulous world leader.

David will be going to Sunset Falls with the unfortunate timing for the White Hearts Festival. For this I want just about anything, but here are my thoughts of some things I am specifically planning on doing for this:
-David will be trying both the Boulder Biscuit and the Firework Delight. I would love some people willing to be on the receiving ends of the side effects of these.
-I would love to play with the white rose pins. I would especially love to sow the seeds of a nemesis here if possible. Just someone that David can butt heads with in the future, and then afterward they can go out and get beers or something.
-Also want David to serve as the support for other people in their NPC connected Romcoms, because he loves (and won't admit to it) giving makeovers.
-With Burning Hearts I would love to just randomly develop some found family, especially if David can be a big brother to someone. Or, more shockingly, develop someone in a more big brother role (he's in his mid twenties, so keep that in mind). Also maybe a bit of

-People who can be his 'special someone to make his life complete' with the Firework Delight cakes, especially people who will go ALL IN on believing it (and thus maybe continue on in on the With Burning Hearts) or skeptics with him who are willing to experiment and run around touching NPCs to determine if this is BS or not.
-People who need makeovers or romantic support from a friend in the course of their romcom
-A Potential Future Nemesis to have a magic romantic moment with over the white roses. Who doesn't like tension across guild lines, for good or bad?
-People to be found family, either as younger siblings to him, or as older influences who will help him rebuild his confidence and hope for the world.
-Someone for hot makeouts. What? It's fun.

- Resident cannibal. Kaneki is a (half)ghoul which are human-looking creatures that predate on humans, thus he can only eats humans and somehow he can also eat coffee (but nobody knows why).
- Despite the above, Kaneki is a REALLY GOOD BOY who just wants to live a peaceful and kind life.
- Desperate for friends. I can not stress this enough, kaneki has SO FEW FRIENDS in canon, and here he will be so lost. He is 19, but honestly he can befriend people who are younger or older, despite being awkward he is a very caring person.
- Desperate for mentors, parental figures and found family.
- Joined the Alliance for the perks. Basically, he needs food and the Alliance gives it to him without sounding really shady like a certain Society.
- Knows how to make AMAZINGLY GOOD coffee. But that also means he is an elitist about most other coffee, although he will be polite about it, don't worry.
- He is so so so so so so terrified of his powers/biology. Kaneki will also downright lie about them.
- Loves and adores books, and he will build his own library while here.

- Most likely the investigator. Kaneki is REALLY good at investigating and puzzles and logic and can piece things together with ease.
- Hero although he was forced into the role. Kaneki is a kind person who will help others immediately, however he doesn't want to be Perceived either.
- The shy one, the awkward one, the weird kid who pukes whenever he tries to eat food.
